Operational Modal Analysis

Since November 2008 the research group is actively working on Experimental and Operational - output only - Modal Analysis (EMA/OMA)
Modal Analysis is the study of the dynamic properties of structures - free or constrained - under external vibrational excitation.

Research focuses on modal parameters estimation algorithms (modal parameters being natural frequencies, damping factors, vibrational mode shapes) and autoselection of stable poles, in order to automate as much as possible the analysis process.
The research group started a collaboration with LMS International HQ (Belgium) in 2009/2010.
Another collaboration is scheduled for 2010 with London Imperial College.
